The SOCIE’s came from France but what department is unknown. In the latter 1800’s in the United States you could find groups of Socie’s in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Orleans with Ohio seeming to be the largest and that is what we are dealing with here. Would love pictures or additional information.
They are grouped here together only for the purpose of not loosing any. They may have been related, maybe not. A few came to Stark County before going to Fulton County making me think they were related.
My line which is Jean Baptiste Socie, known as John, his wife and children immigrated 22 April 1843 on the Duchess D’Orleans. The list does not say where they came from. Jeanine
